It is never too late to learn how to cook and eat “clean”! By no means am I a “lean eating machine” or even a “semi-fitness fanatic”. With a drastic change of income, along came the end of “eating out” and “ordering in”! What I enjoyed most was eating from a different nation. To justify eating out, I would order a dish I could not make at home myself. Now, all my food comes from the supermarket and straight into the house. I can do a pretty good job of recreating dishes that I adore. If I am not successful, I pick out which ingredient(s) I like the most and move them into other foods. I no longer overeat or crave some food over another since I stopped eating High Fructose Corn Syrup (HFCS). I swear, that stuff is addicting. Food that is packaged in a box, bottle or plastic has HFCS. Why? Because it is cheaper and easiest to incorporate for any mass produced products. Watch out for the lower cost, not always generic, products with the “exact same items”. Prices are lower because HFCS is cheaper, can substitute any kind of “sugar” ingredient or move HFCS as a #2-3 ingredient of the list. I have no HFCS at home, so I crave less of what I do cook at home.
