I am a 34 year old mother, wife, PE teacher and wannabe cook and photographer. I live in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne, Australia, with my husband, my two boys, MJ and JJ and our dog Oke. So why 'the nOATbook'? My blogging journey all started with oats. Cheap, nutritious, filling and yummy oats. I was on maternity leave in 2010 with my first son, MJ, and I found I had some extra time on my hands so I turned my attention to becoming more proficient in the kitchen. I also wanted to be fitter and healthier and so I started to look for more wholesome recipes. I started to watch cooking shows and surf the internet and it was here that I discovered my love of oats. I started to use them in lots of baking and even bought myself a coffee grinder to be able to make oat flour. I instantly felt healthier if I made something out of oats! From there I discovered the, previously unknown to me, world of blogging, in particular healthy food and exercise blogging, and I was hooked. I soon had a new vocab - quinoa, kale, millet, coconut oil and my Google reader feed kept expanding. When I realised I now knew how to cook quinoa and kale chips, that I was a HIIT convert and that I had nut butters, organic cocao and coconut oil in my cupboard I thought I might be ready to enter this crazy world of blogging.
